3 to 4% of the population suffers from sleep disorders, often causing severe health problems. The MONSOTEX projects aims at developing a system for (remote) sleep monitoring, based on the use of smart textiles with several embedded psychometric sensors (electro-cardiogram, respiration, temperature...). The advantages of using textiles are: comfort, easy use and reasonable price, allowing sleep monitoring to take place at home. Two possible procedures will be examined: we may either produce the psychometric sensors from textiles, or we may embed existing sensors into textiles by using encapsulation and interconnection techniques respecting the initial properties of textiles (comfort, breathability, durability and resistance to washing...).
