XRF

With XRF measurements, we determine the concentration of different chemical elements in a material. This provides us with a lot of insight, especially into the inorganic fraction in a textile or plastic material.

Detecting recycled textile materials in final products

While none of the existing test methods can give a definitive answer as to whether and how much recycled material is present in a final product, some tests do prove their usefulness.

PFAS assessment

When a consumer article is examined for risk components, we start by screening the sample for the presence of fluorine. If fluorine is detected, this may indicate the presence of residual PFAS, requiring further quantitative assessment.

Toys: N-Nitrosamines and N-Nitrosatable Substances

EN 71-12 provides test methods in support of the EU requirements for N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances in certain types of toys. As a reference to this standard has been published in the EU’s Official Journal, compliance will offer a presumption of conformity to the Toys Safety Directive 2009/48/EC.

Textile characterisation

Presentation of different microscopic and scanning techniques to assess the quality of and presence of elements in textiles.

Characterization of recycled plastics and textiles

Recycling is key in the transition to a circular economy. Therefore Centexbel expands its lab equipment to characterize recyclates or to assess the recyclability of materials.

Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP) Spectrometry

ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) Spectroscopy is an analytical method used to detect and measure elements to analyze chemical samples.

REACH quick test package

Centexbel offers a set of tests to detect the presence of Substances of Very High Concern [SVHC], as defined by REACH legislation. This quick analysis enables manufacturers, textile finishers, importers, retailers and brands to meet the REACH SVHC obligations.

Permeation test

Resistance to penetration and permeation are two variables related to the barrier properties of materials.
