The European Commission has tasked VITO, eco-logic and CENTEXBEL to organize a study on the Technical, Regulatory, Economic and Environmental Effectiveness of Textile Fibres Recycling.

In the presence of Vice Minister-President and Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation and Work Hilde Crevits, POM West Flanders, Centexbel, KU Leuven and PlastIQ officially opened the doors of the Circular Materials Center, the new training and research center for the plastics and textile sector, in Kortrijk on October 6th, 2020.

As recycling is key in the transition to a circular economy, Centexbel expands its lab equipment to characterize recyclates or to assess the recyclability of materials.

With a length of 42 m, the new bicycle and footbridge are the longest composite bridges made of one piece in the world. Even longer than the average Boeing (35 m).

On 2 & 3 October 2018, more than 100 participants from Belgium and abroad gathered at the Park Inn Hotel in Liège Airport to attend the 2018 international conference on COMPOSITES. The conference was organised by CENTEXBEL, the Textiles Competence Centre, and provided a platform to the participants form the industry and research world to discuss the exceptional characteristics of these new materials and to highlight the challenges of their production.

Tuesday, June 19, 2018 — Plastic Recyclers Europe and CENTEXBEL-VKC collaborated on the elaboration characterisation of recycled PE-LD pellets, which provides a framework for the quality assessment of the pellets. It aims at enhancing demand for recycled plastics by providing standardized methods to evaluate quality based on EU standards.
