Recycling

In line with the Plastic Strategy for Europe, the time has come to stop the depletion, landfilling and incineration and shift to a Circular Model in the plastic sector improving the recycling rate but also the value of secondary raw materials from plastic recycling. As such, MultiCycle will deliver an industrial recycling pilot plant for fossil and bio-based thermoplastic multilayer packaging and fibre reinforced composites using a novel solvent based selective extraction process which allows recovering pure plastics and additives in mixed wastes for their later reprocessing into value-added

The aim of the project is to develop sustainable fibre reinforced composites that meet the flame retardancy requirements of the transport and construction sectors, meaning that the materials are difficult to ignite, have no burning droplets and have low smoke densities and toxicities.

Researching the recyclability of PVB from industrial plane glass waste for new industrial applications.

Product verifications and analyses are not only important for local production sites but also necessary for importers of recycled products produced outside Europe

QA-CER assures the quality system related to the recycling process and use of recycled materials. Both the recycled content and the quality of the end product are addressed in order to support the principle of sustainability. In 2013 QA-CER published the requirements for certification.

The LIFE RECYSITE project aims to demonstrate recyclability and reuse of a new generation of high performance fibre-reinforced thermoset composites from renewable resources (bio-waste)

In ReFOIL industrially relevant case studies are developed in which some of the common streams of multi-layered packaging waste (consisting of polyesters, polyolefins, polyamides, intermediate layers, e tc.) will be studied.

Inauguration of Recticel's recycling pilot line

According to European Commission, 13.1 million tons of poultry meat was produced in the European Union (EU-28) in 2014 with an estimated generation of 3.1 million tons feather waste. At present the majority of poultry feathers are converted into low nutritional value animal food or disposed in landfills, causing environmental and health hazards.
